Before the war, FV Webster was employed as a Forestry Officer in India and Burma, earning his first medal, the India General Service Medal with Burma 1930-32 Clasp, during the Burma Rebellion.  As Captain (Temporary Major) he was one of the ten original British Officer ‘Johnnies’ recruited from the Forestry Department and timber companies to gather intelligence behind Japanese lines in the Burma jungle as part of Z Force.
