Scotland D, Colonel
Head Conductor (Colonel) D Scotland earned his first medal, the Queen’s South Africa Medal, as a Trooper in Kitchener’s Fighting Scouts, gaining the Clasps “Transvaal”, “Orange Free State” and Cape Colony”. He went on to serve during the First World War, earning the 1914-15 Star, the War Medal and Victory Medal. The reverse of the Victory Medal is inscribed in both English and Dutch signifying its issue by the Union of South Africa. The cap badge reads “Eendracht Maakt Macht”, meaning “Union is Strength”.
