Munro JS, Major
Major JS Munro served in Burma as well as in the post-D-Day campaign in Western Europe, two very separate and distinct theatres of the war.
Although specialist personnel could be and were transferred between operational theatres that were still in progress the practice was not common as few Commanders would happily lose their experienced people to another theatre, especially during ongoing operations.
The Burma campaign still had over a year to run at the time of the Normandy landings when Major Munro, a member of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) with Force 136 in Burma was reassigned from the Far East to the European theatre.
His medals from left to right; 1939-45 Star, Burma Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal and War Medal with Mention in Despatches Oak Leaf.
